Abstract

Purpose-To demonstrate different ways of reconstruction of full thickness upper lid coloboma.

Methodology-Following video series demonstrates the 2 different procedures done for lid coloboma repair, depending on the amount of defect. If the defect is less than 50% of the eyelid, it can be repaired by lateral canthotomy with cantholysis with a direct closure. If the defect is more than 50% of the eyelid, Cutler Beard procedure saves the day where a full thickness tongue of the lower lid is brought creating a bridge flap of the eye lid margin which is sutured to the margin of upper lid defect . Second stage involves Separation of the flap.

Conclusion-Both procedures ensure, skin color and texture match with good margin support and minimal scarring. Knowledge of lid anatomy and reasonable skill is required to bridging the colobomatous gap in time. This video is a step in the right direction, which helps in achievement of the same.
