Abstract
Synopsis:The key in membrane dissection in diabetic vitrectomy is to remove all traction without creating retinal breaks and minimise bleeding. Membranes can be peeled, segmented and delaminated and the key to atraumatic dissection is identification of the correct plane, the second membrane and usage of appropriate instruments in the given situation. This video collection will demonstrate what decides where to begin the dissection, when to peel, when to use cutter or the scissors for delamination and when to switch to bimanual surgery. Finer nuances such as the direction of dissection, minimising traction during dissection will also be exemplified in this presentation.
