Abstract

A 24 year old female with history of BE FEMTO LASIK 10 days ago presented to our hospital with complaints of redness & foreign body sensation in LE for 10 days. Her unaided vision in RE was 6/6 & in LE was 6/9. BE IOP was 18mmHg. RE flap was well apposed with clear interface. LE flap was well apposed with a pinpoint whitish lesion with well-defined margins in the paracentral area at 7’o clock position. AS-OCT showed a focal confined lesion in the anterior stroma. After differentiating it from other diagnosis, we treated her with fortified Vancomycin eye drops & 0.5% Ofloxacin eye drops 1 hourly, and reviewed every 3rd day. Infiltrate scarred by 3rd week. The incidence of Post-LASIK infectious keratitis is 0.035% and is a potentially vision-threatening complication. A proper schedule of follow-up appointments, a need for explaining warning signs to patients and accurate diagnosis of the complication with appropriate and aggressive management can result in preserving useful vision.
