Abstract
Purpose: To describe case series of severely non-perfused retina in healthy adults simulating zone half to one of babies .
Method: 3 patients with chief complaint of diminution of vision presented to us with no known systemic history. Fundus revealed multiple peripheral sclerosed vessels. FFA was advised after systemic evaluation. Evaluation revealed varied systemic problems in all 3 patients. One was diagnosed as a case of pulmonary thromboembolism, second as diabetic, hypertensive with blockage of main heart vessel and third one as Takayasu arteritis. FFA revealed severely non-perfused in periphery simulating half to zone 1 of babies.
Treatment : All three patients underwent laser to non-perfused areas.
Result : Regression of disease was seen in all the patients with ophthalmic & systemic management.
Conclusion: Sometimes, ophthalmic presentation and ocular imaging can be helpful in diagnosing major systemic diseases that is known as “Oculomics”.
