Abstract
A child of 5years, presented with diminution of vision of L/E for 2 days following an accidental needle prick injury on 05/07/2022 at Home, followed by progressive pain, fever, watering , discharge, redness with bulging of the eye.
Material and method
RBS – 113 mg/dl
TLC: 28570/Cumm (6/07/22), 19520/cumm(14/07/22),10762/cumm(22/7/22)
CT brain with orbit –panophthalmitis L/E with retro-orbital collection
Result
Intravenous broad- spectrum antibiotics with opinion from paediatrics was given with topical medications and nutritional supplements for 20 days. Patient showed improvement with respect to proptosis and ocular motility. Surgical intervention abandoned as patient party refused.
Conclusion- patient showed improvement in all aspects except vision.
