Abstract
Introduction : Cornea represents a unique external barrier (90%) of any topical preparation used. If we can estimate the penetrance of cornea , we can predict aqueous bioavailability of the drugs.Methodology : We made a simple petridish experiment with convex side down grade D donated cornea(unfit for human use) as a meniscus memabrane. One drop of specially prepared drug formulation put on the top of the cup. time measurement was done. Concentration of drugs above and below after proper sampling and microscopy were tested by fluroscent microscopy.Results: Simple concentration difference was not sufficient ,rather tissue resistance came out to be a factor with significant p value in matlab calculations. Different formulations(3) in diffrent conc have different effects from corneal tissue property, which was called tissue penetrance. Conclusion: Corneal penetrance can be estimated in vitro for each drug which can help us titrate proper concentration in treatment.
