Abstract
Introduction-Contracted socket is defined as the shrinkage and shortening of all or a part of orbital tissues due to abscence of globe, causing a decrease in depth of fornices and orbital volume ultimately leading to inability to retain prosthesis.
Case Report-An 18 year old male patient came with complaints of contracted right socket following a traumatic globe rupture on 16/4/2022.Following the incident he had extra dural hemorrhage of 12mm thickness with midline shift of 2mm and comminuted fractures of floor, medial wall and lateral wall of orbit, with bone fragments in the extraconal right orbit, with loss of contour of right orbit.
Method-Socket was prepared by excising pseudocornea, scooping out of uveal tissue, dissecting into the fornices. The dermis fat graft was taken from upper thigh region via an elliptical incision, graft placed in the socket and sutured and conformer was placed.
Result-Postoperatively graft was healthy.Prosthesis was placed on a later date.
