Abstract
PURPOSE: Management of orbital varices and veno lymphatic malformation is been a challenge due to its high recurrence rate. Various sclerosants are used to treat recurrent or complex veno lymphatic malformations but they produce potential side effects. But intra lesional doxycycline frequently used in paediatric head and cervical lymphangiomas, can be tried in orbital malformations which was surprisingly potent in reducing recurrence without significant side effects.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We report a case of recurrent orbital veno lymphatic malformation which presented with sudden increase in size and with bleeding manifestation; which was treated with imaging guided intra lesional doxycycline.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The lesion started showing immediate regression in 3rd post operative day. Thus, intra lesional doxycycline was found to be a cost effective potent alternative in orbital venolymphatic malformation.
