Abstract
Retinal vasculitis or retinitis in preterm is very rare condition. Simultaneous occurrence of vasculitis or retinitis along with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) might pose a challenge in the management. We report two preterm infants with vasculitis and ROP and one with retinitis and ROP. During ROP screening, RetCam imaging revealed bilateral early vascular shunts in zone I and plus disease diagnostic of Aggressive posterior retinopathy of prematurity (APROP) along with bilateral retinal vasculitis in 2 infants. APROP regressed with intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) in both. And one infant showed bilateral retinitis along with zone 2 by notch ROP, whose CMV titres were positive. Retinitis in this infant resolved with subsequent follow up visits. In these challenging scenarios prompt diagnosis and treatment plays an important role. Such infants may require individualised approach and vigilant care.
