Abstract
We would like to report the visual outcomes in 7 eyes of nanophthalmic patients who underwent piggyback IOL implantation for cataract. Optical biometry with IOL master 700 was used and Hoffer-Q formula was used for IOL power calculation. The mean axial length was 16.12mm and the mean IOL power required was 56.5D. All patients underwent prophylactic PI and iv mannitol 100ml was given pre-op, 1 patient had undergone vortex vein decompression. A standard phacoemulsification procedure with implantation of a foldable hydrophobic single piece acrylic IOL in the bag and a foldable 3-piece acrylic IOL in sulcus was performed for all patients. There was no intraoperative/ perioperative complications like uveal effusion/ suprachoroidal haemorrhage/ aqueous misdirection syndrome. The visual outcome was satisfactory in all patients with subjective and objective visual improvement. The patients did not develop postop Interlenticular opacification, PCO, 2 pigmentary glaucoma upto 6 months followup.
