Abstract
Purpose: To study role of Retro mode(RM) in early detection & compare it with other preexisting modalities.
Method: Prospective, Cross- Sectional Study done from November 2020 to October 2021 including 409 eyes which were divided into 3 groups according to the size and number of the drusen, viz, Group 1: No AMD, Group 2: Early AMD and Group 3: Intermediate AMD and into 2 subgroups, viz, A: drusen size 63-125µm and B: drusen size 125-250µm.
Results: In No & early AMD, FAF detected more number of drusen than RM & color photo while regarding area of involvement, RM was superior to both other modalities. When all modalities were compared with Enhanced Depth Imaging(EDI-OCT) & vessel density on OCTA, RM found to be in sync with proven modalities in terms of pattern & trend.
Conclusion: RM is found to be better diagnostic modality in detecting early and more number of drusens. Though superior, it can’t replace other modalities but only acts as complementary investigation in early detection.
