Abstract
Lymphoma of the lacrimal sac is extremely uncommon and mostly seen in old age. We present two cases of unusually distinct lacrimal sac lymphomas in young males (16- and 27-years age respectively), both reporting with gradually enlarging medial canthal swelling and epiphora. Unusual clinical presentation warranted diagnostic imaging which revealed heterogenous mass extending from sac to inferior meatus in first patient while a well delineated mass involving lacrimal sac was observed in the second patient. Diagnostic biopsy revealed Burkitt lymphoma in first case and B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma in the second. Patient 1 was treated with aggressive chemotherapy while patient 2 underwent dacryocystectomy followed by chemotherapy. Lymphomas of lacrimal sac may be misdiagnosed as chronic dacryocystitis sequelae like mucocoele, especially in the young. We highlight two unusually rare lacrimal sac tumors, including the only known report of Burkitt’s lymphoma of lacrimal sac origin.
