Abstract
Purpose: To present the results of nasal transposition of split tendon lateral rectus muscle for complete III nerve palsy. Method: Medical records of patients who underwent split tendon transposition of lateral rectus to medial rectus for complete III N Palsy between January 2020 and December 2021 were reviewed. Upper half was passed beneath SR & SO and inferior half was passed beneath IR & IO and attached to superior and inferior to insersion of medial rectus respectively . Results: There were 5 patients who undergone split tendon transposition of lateral rectus for III N palsy. 3 patients also undergone medial rectus resection. The pre-operative deviations were more than 45 PD (range 45 – 90)PD in all patients. The success rate (horizontal alignment within 20PD of orthotropia) was achieved in all patients. No patients has vertical deviation or diplopia. Conclusion: Split tendon nasal transposition of lateral rectus is safe and effective in the management of complete III N palsy.
