Abstract
ILM peeling during vitrectomy for is becoming common, and is advocated to prevent re-proliferation and remove macular folds. However the ILM peeling may not be an innocuous procedure and can cause a few complications including macular hole formation. To reduce the complications, fovea sparing ILM peeling has been put forward. MATERIALS & METHODS: A retrospective case series analysis was carried out of the cases which underwent fovea sparing ILM peeling in Proliferative Retinal Vascular diseases. The cases were analyzed with respect to the presenting visual acuity, final visual acuity, post operative OCT configuration and intra-operative and post-operative complications. RESULTS: A total of 8 cases were included in the study, a majority of cases showed maintained foveal contour post-operatively. No major complications were noticed. We find the procedure safe & effective and needs further evaluation in lager series.
