Abstract
Fundus assessment during anterior segment surgery plays major role in prognosticating outcome in mature cataract surgeries,to assess fundus during strabismus surgeries. Intraoperative fundus assessment would be helpful for out reach patients who may not come for follow up.Intra operative fundus examination needs expensive indirect ophthalmoscopy and a sterile 20 D lens.Or else it needs injection of air bubbe in to anterior chamber. Hereby we describe a novel method of fundus assessment using a simple extraocular device. Here we place a circular extraocular device over the limbus ,which could be a Toric ring and trephined surgical sponge. Then we apply a layer of visco elastics inside the device.Following which, operating microscope is lowered down to bring fundus in to focus. The principle of this technique is described in this video
