Abstract
The IHOPE centre is a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional Indian Health Outcomes, Public Health and Economics (IHOPE) Research Centre. India Alliance funded this project for INR 10,00,00,000
(USD 1.5 million) over 5 years to build a clinical research centre. The collaborating institutions are premier Eye Institute, Management Institute and Public Health Institute. Government funded as well
as private insurance bodies require evidence on cost effectiveness, and health technolog assessment (HTA) is required to guide policy makers. Collaboration of national medical bodies along
with government agencies is key to developing minimum standards for value-based care in our country. Guidelines for standard treatment, which are dynamic enough to be updated regularly with
new evidence, are key to improve health systems. Examples from National Health Authority (NHA) of India and National Health Service (NHS) of UK will be discussed.
