Abstract
A 28 years male presented 10 days after uneventful pterygium surgery (with sutureless conjunctival autograft) with foreign body sensation and reddish mass in his right eye. Vision was 6/9 in affected eye. There was a non- pedunculated, nodular, highly vascular mass at the surgical site suggestive of pyogenic granuloma (clinical appearance and history of surgery). The patient had no systemic illness. He was started on topical prednisolone acetate 1% eye drops in 2 hourly frequency along with topical antibiotic and lubricating eye drops. The lesion remained static for one week and then started regressing. Steroid drops were tapered gradually. Intraocular pressure remained within normal limits throughout. Complete regression of lesion occurred after about six weeks of topical steroid usage. Timely diagnosis and early institution of treatment are must for such condition and results of supervised steroid eye drop usage may be comparable to surgical excision
