Abstract
Purpose: To report a case of surgically induced necrotizing scleritis(SINS).
Method: A 56 year-old man presented with a one week history of severe pain and redness in right eye (RE). Small incision cataract surgery was done 8 month prior in right eye. Right eye examinatinon showed conjunctival injection and scleral thinning with uveal tissue show superiorly at the site of sclera tunnel .Left eye was within normal limits. Results: Systemic steroids were initiated and complete resolution of inflammation was noted at the end of three weeks.
Conclusion: SINS is a severe Inflammation of the sclera commonly associated with collagen vascular disorder should be distinguished from infectious scleritis.Timely intervention with use of immunosuppressant drugs has improved the outcome.
