Abstract
Aim: The aim of the study was to correlate Central Macular Thickness (CMT) and Visual Field parameters in Primary Open Angle Glaucoma.
Methods: A total of 36 patients were examined in a cross-sectional, prospective study. Routine examination of the patients attending the Ophthalmology OPD were done followed by measurement of CMT by Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography and assessment of Visual Field was done using Standard Automated Perimetry. Global Visual Field parameters, including Mean Deviation (MD), Pattern Standard Deviation (PSD) and Visual Field Index (VFI) were recorded.
Results: Average CMT correlated significantly with MD, PSD and VFI. (p<0.05). The mean MD scores were significantly higher in patients with decreased CMT. Intra-eye asymmetries correlated with PSD scores significantly (p<0.05). Conclusion: Our study revealed a significant correlation between CMT and Visual Field parameters making CMT measurements more meaningful in the field of Glaucoma.
