Abstract
Ptosis in a condition of the eyelid which results is drooping of the lid. Levator Palpebrae superioris, a muscle of the upper lid responsible for opening the lid, may be shortened and strengthened, thereby correcting the ptosis. Here we have a case series of 3 cases of ptosis operated for LPS resection.
The first patient was a middle-aged woman presenting with moderate to severe ptosis in left eye. The second patient was a young woman presenting with long standing moderate ptosis of left eye. The third patient was an elderly man presenting with severe ptosis and grade 3 nuclear sclerosis is right eye.
Post operative results showed that adequate assessment and accurate evaluation to decide the amount of resection to be done are essential. It is necessary to assess the situation of the other lid. The decision for the final resection is to be done, not purely based on theoretical formulae, but on the placement of lid over the cornea and in comparison to the other eyelid.
