Abstract
Purpose: Manifestations and management of sebaceous nevus of Jadassohn (NSJ)
Methods: Retrospective case series of 25 eyes of 13 patients. Results: Mean age was 7.5±5.4y. 12 patients had bilateral ocular involvement including epibulbar choristoma (24, 96%), eyelid coloboma (14, 56%), corneal lesion (pannus, neovascularisation, scarring) (11, 44%), choroidal osteoma (11, 44%), optic disc pit (4, 16%). Systemic manifestations: cutaneous [alopecia 12(100%), nevus sebaceous 12(92.3%)]; skeletal [parietal bone defect 4(31%), skeletal bone defects 2(15%)], neurological [seizures 2(15%)]. Surgical intervention: excision of epibulbar lesion+AMG in 18(72%), SLET in 2(8%), eyelid reconstruction in 6(24%). Pathology showed complex choristoma in 16 and dermolipoma in 2. None developed malignancy.
Conclusion: NSJ is characterized by a spectrum of ocular features and cutaneous, skeletal and
neurological abnormalities. Excision of choristoma and eyelid reconstruction provide gratifying outcome.
