Abstract
TITLE
AN ABSCESS IMPOSTER
PURPOSE
To report a challenging presentation of eosinophilic granuloma masquerading as an abscess
METHOD
A 2yr old child presented with recurrent upperlid abscess recalcitrant to systemic antibiotics, incision and drainage. CT showed homogenous mass lesion with extensive destruction of frontal bone. Tissue diagnosis revealed an eosinophilic granuloma with immunohistochemistry strongly positive for CD68,S100,CD1a . Drastic improvement seen with intralesional steriod &further systemic evaluation was done.
RESULT
Timely diagnosis &appropriate intervention improved the outcome in this case of eosinophilic granuloma.
CONCLUSION
Any paediatric lid abscess which doesnot show improvement with conventional treatment needs to be imaged
