Abstract
White dot syndromes are inflammatory chorioretinopathies of unknown etiology. They affect relatively young, otherwise healthy patients. We, hereby, report a rare case of Multiple evanescent white dot syndrome (MEWDS) in a 31-year-old pregnant lady with gestational DM. She was diagnosed elsewhere on routine retinopathy screening as LE papillitis. She had no complaints of blurring of vision or floaters. Her BCVA was 20/20 in both eyes and no RAPD. Fundus examination of RE was normal, while LE showed disc edema and hyperemia with multiple faint yellow-white deep retinal lesions in the peripapillary and perifoveal regions, and macular granularity. C-fields showed enlarged blind spot and multifocal ERG showed decreased amplitudes in LE. Presence of subtle retinal lesions and absence of RAPD differentiated MEWDS from papillitis. She was kept on observation. Lesions gradually resolved over the next 2 months of follow-up. High index of suspicion is needed to diagnose white dot syndromes
