Abstract

Introduction: Retropupillary Iris Claw lens placement can be a viable options where an in the bag IOL is not possible. If an unfortunate retinal detachment occurs in these eyes, surgical repair becomes extremely challenging.

Purpose: To report a case of retinal detachment and its management in retopupillary iris claw lens implanted eye.

Case report: A 62 year gentleman presented with DOV left eye for 3 months. He had history of multiple ocular surgeries four months back. On examination left eye had a retopupillary iris claw lens with total retinal detachment and PVR changes. PPV was started but challenge faced during OT was non-dilating pupil causing inadequate view of retina periphery. Lens was removed and retinal detachment was settled using silicone oil tamponade.

Present poster highlights the challenges faced while trying to explant iris claw lens. It also highlights difficulties in managing a VR surgery in iris claw implanted eyes.
