Abstract
Young male with a recent history of PCR-Positive Covid 19 infection, presented with sudden painless diminution of vision in left eye along with inferior field loss.Nil-systemic and not on any medications. Left eye had BCVA 6/36, RAPD and disc findings suggestive of NAION. Diagnosis was confirmed on FFA. Blood investigations showed deranged parameters including DDimer of 910, and was started on antiplatlets by Physician. Within six weeks, patient attained 6/6,disc edema resolved and blood parameters stabalized. NAION results from a circulatory insufficiency, or infarct located within retrolaminar portion of the optic nerve head, supplied by SPCA. SARS-CoV-2 infection has been shown to cause thromboembolic phenomenon and Retina vein and artery occlusions have been widely documented in such patients. Very few have reported NAION secondary to Covid-19 infection, and to the best of our knowledge, no case has been documented in young age group and with complete resolution post-treatment.
