Abstract
Aim- observation of various outcomes of anti-VEGF treatment in babies with retinopathy of PREMATURITY.
Method – prospective observational study was conducted from August 2020-july2022 in babies detected with rop and treated with anti-VEGF. Babies were examined post injection on day 1,14,and monthly upto 1 year.
Results – A total of 200 babies were included in the study diagnosed with zone 1 aprop, zone 1 plus disease any stage, zone 2 stage 3 with or without plus disease. While most cases resolved with single injection, vessel growth restriction, recurrence , reappearance of staging were observed in few babies specially with extremely LBW and early preterm. Complications like cataract, macular haemorrhage were rare. Few of the babies with recurrence or retinal detachment needed laser therapy.
Conclusion – Timely screening, detection of rop , it’s treatment and meticulous follow up can save many babies from irreversible blindness and give them a bright future.
