Abstract
PURPOSE: To report 2 cases of of ROP reactivation,later in life following natural regressio in infancy
METHODS-Prospective study focussing on ocular presentation and outcome of long term ROP follow-up at tertiaryHospital,India
A 12 year old female and a 8 year old male,with known history of bilateral ROP came with complaints of black spots.On examination patient had(BE) regressed ROP.Both eyes had developed new vascular buds (vessels ) along avascular arcade .FFA was done and leaks with non perfusion areas were noted. Both didnt receive any treatment in the past and were on 6 monthly followup.
RESULTS:Based on the clinical symptoms and signs, reactivation of ROP was suspected . After FFA ,laser therapy was given to stop the progression .Visual acuity and retina remained steady during the follow-up period.
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with history of ROP treatment with or without active signs should be evaluated life long to detect and avert vision threatening complications.
