Abstract
Aim: To study the influence of pupil dilation on ocular parameters and its impact on IOL power calculation formulas
Methods: This prospective study includes 150 patients. Variables viz, axial length, keratometry, central corneal thickness (CCT), lens thickness (LT), white to white (WTW) & anterior chamber depth (ACD), were measured before & after dilation. All measurements were done using IOLMaster 500 except LT and CCT which were measured by USG A-scan. IOL power was calculated by Barrett Universal II, Haigis, Hill-RBF, Holladay 2, Kane (both with & without LT) & SRK/T formulas. Change in each variable before and after dilation, and the correlation between changes were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed-rank test and Spearman’s rank-order correlation test, respectively.
Results: There was statistically significant change (p = <0.001) in ACD (increase) , WTW (increase), LT (decrease) after dilatation & its impact was seen with Haigis, Hill –RBF and Kane without lens thickness formulas.
