Abstract
Study compared repeatability of Tear Break Up time(TBUt) measurement using standard 2% fluorescein strip(FS) on slit lamp(SL) with cobalt blue filter(CBF) v/s Smartphone aided CObalt Blue ocular photographY :DO it yOurself (SCOOBY DOO: made using 15D IOL & acrylic cobalt filter costing 300₹). Prospective,randomized study of 320 eyes: TBUt measurements were determined using of 2% FS with both SL & SCOOBY DOO on the same eye at the same time.Results were compared & no statistical significance (p=0.16) was found suggesting that SCOOBY DOO was non inferior compared to standard SL with CBF.Image quality OF SCOOBY DOO was comparable with advantages of documentation,storage & future reference use.Limitation:depth perception compromised but does not alter the measurements,hence SCOOBY DOO: innovative,easy to use,cost effective,portable point of care diagnostic tool for imaging in immobile(ICU) patients,dry eye screening & low resource setting where SL is unavailable.First of its kind study.
