Abstract
Aim:To assess and compare surgeon experience for performing Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty optical coherence tomography (iOCT) versus the traditional enface DALK in ease of dissection achieving big bubble and avoiding complication in patients with anterior stromal disease.
Methods This prospective two centre case series comprising 16 eyes of 16 patients consecutively scheduled for DALK surgery and 16 eyes (16 patients) on patients who underwent DALK with the use of iOCT imaging.
ResultsThe Surgeon had better visibility of surgical steps assessment of placement depth of injection needle, preparation of bare Descemet’s membrane, if only air emphysema was present , dissection was aided with the help of the iOCT .Micro Perforation occurred in 1/16 and 0/16 pts
Conclusion:iOCT allows visualization of depth-dependent anatomy for specific surgical interventions during DALK not appreciated with en face operating microscope view and has the potential to facilitate big bubble delivery
