Abstract
Aims: Analysis of clinical profile, injury pattern and prognostic factors of patients having orbito-facial fractures with simultaneous globe rupture. Methods: A retrospective review of 62 patients. Results: Majority were male (77.4%) between 21-30 years. Commonest cause of injury was RTA (43.54%), Assault (21%),fall from height (11.3%) and sports (8.1%).Commonest orbital wall fracture was combined medial wall & floor fracture (35.5%) followed by combined lateral wall and floor fracture (32.3%) and isolated medial wall and floor fracture in 24.9% & 21% respectively. Majority had >2 orbital wall fracture. However 6.5% patients had pan orbito-facial fracture. Globe rupture was in zone II (51.6%) and zone III (33.9%). 87.1% required surgical intervention. Conclusion: Orbito-facial fractures with simultaneous globe rupture are vision threatening condition. This study highlights that zone of injury, OTS, number of orbital wall fracture and RAPD are the most important prognostic factors.
