Abstract
Aim: ICGA is a commonly used investigation in assessing disease activity in VKH disease. Our objective is to highlight the use of EDI-OCT along with ICGA to evaluate disease activity in VKH cases.
Methods: Cross-sectional observational study of 96 eyes of 48 patients having VKH disease.
Choroidal granulomas were evaluated on features of margins, staining of vessels, leakage on ICGA. Reflectivity and the corresponding transmission of the lesions on EDI-OCT was evaluated.
Results: ICGA in chronic VKH cases showed multiple hypo-fluorescent dark dots (HDD) in early stages.
11% more corresponding lesions showed inactivity on EDI-OCT when compared with findings on ICGA. 10.4% of eyes were indicated as having inactive lesions by ICGA, whereas 14.5% of eyes were shown to have inactive (scarred) lesions by EDI-OCT.
Conclusion: Correlating ICGA findings with EDI-OCT images provides a better understanding of the disease activity in VKH disease and helps with the optimum titration of treatment.
