Abstract
PURPOSE: To assess and correlate the structural and functional parameters of fundus autofluorescence in DME patients undergoing Intravitreal injections. METHOD: This was a prospective Non-randomized Clinical study on 44 DME patients undergoing intravitreal injections. Mean BCVA, FAF pattern(using CSLO), CSMT(HRA 2) were noted on follow up at 1,3 and 6months after anti-VEGF. FAF patterns were graded and classified into 5 types. Results: Significant difference with strong correlation in BCVA and CSMT (p<0.002) were noted. In Normal FAF group, ELM and IS-OS were mostly intact; in multiple spot iFAF they were mostly disrupted or absent and correlated to cystoid pattern of DME on OCT in most of them. Subjects with plaque iFAF had less BCVA compared to other grades correlating with absent IS-OS and ELM. Conculsion: FAF imaging using CSLO allows for higher resolution topographic assessment of macula. FAF along with OCT biomarkers may potentially predict prognosis. No financial disclosures.
