Abstract

Optic disc pit is a rare congenital anomaly due to incomplete closure of the fetal fissure. Here is retrospective study of 9 patients who underwent parsplana vitrectomy & pit closure with autologous sclera from 2013 to 2022. We analysed anatomical & functional out comes of surgery, complications & mean follow up of 6 months. Clinical records for demography, pre and post operative visual acuity, OCT & central retinal thickness (CRT) was evaluated. Mean age of the patients was 33.5 +/- 13.2years. 4 patient had a visual acuity of < 6/60 ( logmar 1) & others > 6/36 (logmar0.7). At 6 months follow up, 4 patient had an improvement of 2 snellen’s lines, 2 had an improvement of 1 line, 2 patient had no improvement in vision and 1 patient lost follow up. In OCT, 4 patient had > 80 % reduction in CRT, 2 had > 40 % reduction & others >30 % . One patient had a complication of angle closure glaucoma. One patient had dislodged scleral graft on post op 1 day but the outcome was similar to others.
