Abstract
Aim: To report the pattern of retinal and choroidal vessels(CV) and vortex vein(VV)arrangement in coloboma eyes.
Methods: Fundus images of 69 eyes of 45 patients with fundal coloboma were classified as per Ida Mann’s classification. Arrangement & distribution of retinal, CV and VV in non-colobomatous, colobomatous and extra-colobomatous regions noted.
Results: Origin of retinal BV could not be identified in most cases with type 1 & 2 colobomas. In colobomas, where identifiable, most showed the BVs to originate from the disc center except in type 4 disc colobomas where the inferior retinal BVs originated from the disc margin. CV appeared dilated & tortuous in most eyes. VV rearrangement was noted with 9 eyes at the disc & 5 at the macula.
Conclusion: This paper demonstrates the changes in the ocular vessel arrangement in coloboma eyes. One should be aware of these changes while performing relaxing cuts in ICM, during PPV for coloboma RDs. Future angiographic studies would be needed.
