Abstract
AIM: To restore the integrity of iris and pupil and to relieve patient from uncomforting symptoms associated with defective iris. Inclusion criteria: Defective iris with atonic, mydriatic, or partially reactive pupil or with iridodialysis. RESULTS: 11 patients complaint of photophobia and glare, 2 patients had uniocular diplopia, 8 patients had complaint of diminution of vision preoperatively. Iris reconstruction was done in 16 patients, in 6 patients iridodialysis repair was done while in rest 10 patients pupilloplasty using single four throw pupilloplasty method was done. There was no evidence of iritis after 1 month of followup. Symptoms of glare, photophobia and diplopia markedly reduced in all patients. CONCLUSION: The surgeon’s expertise in managing traumatic iris benefits the patient by reducing diplopia, photophobia, glare, and preserving quality of vision
