Abstract
Purpose: To assess response of retrobulbar voriconazole in treatment of orbital aspergillosis. Methods: 3 patients with HPE proven orbital aspergillosis were evaluated. Visual acuity, ocular motility, ptosis, proptosis were measured, CT orbit was done. Patients were given retrobulbar voriconazole injection, clinical response was measured in visual acuity, improvement in ocular motility, ptosis and reduction in proptosis. Imaging was performed 1 month after injections to assess the radiological resolution. Results:Visual acuity had improved in 2 out of 3 patients, and it remained the same in 1. Ptosis, chemosis and ocular motility had improved in all 3 patients. There was reduction in proptosis in only 1 patient at the end of 1month. Repeat imaging at 1 month showed significant improvement in all 3 patients. Conclusion: Retrobulbar voriconazole helps in the rapid clinical and radiological resolution in cases of orbital aspergillosis
