Abstract

Aim:A Comparative study of the characteristics and outcomes of WEBOF vs Non-WEBOF orbital fractures in children.Materials and Methods:A retrospective study of 48 pediatric patients with orbital fracture who presented to a tertiary eye care center from June 2015 to June 2022.Results:Clinical features on presentation like diplopia and upgaze limitation compared among 2 groups.16 had WEBOF & 32 had Non-WEBOF.Most common injury:hit by fist/ball in 11 (68.75%)WEBOF &RTA in 25 (78.125%) Non-WEBOF.IR muscle entrapment in15 (93.75%) WEBOF, muscle prolapse in 20(62.5%) Non-WEBOF patients.Implants used were Porex, titanium & silastic.Outcomes & residual complications, diplopia and enophthalmos assessed.Conclusion:WEBOF is easily overlooked due to subtle findings.Delayed treatment caused major complications.We saw that pediatric fractures repaired in 2 weeks of injury prevented residual diplopia & enophthalmos and we brought out differences in characteristics & surgical outcomes between 2 groups.
