Abstract

A new design of toric IOLs with anterior capsular fixation via two extra swivel haptics is herein described. It is a single piece, open loop, hydrophobic IOL. It has two extra haptics made of a proprietary material, fixed on the surface of the optic at 3 and 9 o clock positions, that can swivel back and forth. After implanting the IOL in the bag, the extra haptics are designed to slide over the anterior capsule, fixating the IOL smoothly onto the capsule.

The post operative BCVA, the amount of axis rotation in the toric IOLs, the IOL decentration and complications are the parameters assessed and results presented

This anterior capsular fixated toric IOL is designed to minimise the axis rotation, minimise the requirement for IOL repositioning and improve patient satisfaction.
