Abstract
AIM – A innovative PMMA IOL designed with radially progressive polyfocal optic to provide multifocality without principle of diffraction and refraction.
MATERIALS & METHODS – A prospective interventional study of 40 eyes of 34 patients.22M:12 F . (mean age 61.3 yrs ).All pts with cataract with consent included.Exclusion criteria -pts with corneal opacity, retinal disorder, optic atrophy. 4 patients were pseudophakic with monofocal IOL in other eye.
PROCEDURE -MSICS with incisions of 6.5 mm and autofocus IOL implanted in capsular bag by single surgeon .No PC rent .6 pts had bilateral IOL implant.
RESULTS- Follow Up 6 – 30 months.(mean follow up -16 months ). UCVA – 6/12 – 6/6 near Vn N8-N6 achieved in all cases . No PCO noted .
DISCUSSION-A first of its kind cost effective PMMA autofocus IOL( patent pending) with excellent DIN vision ( Distance, intermediate, near)by GRIN Technology ( Radially progressive Gradient refractive index ) without glare/haloes/+or- dysphotopsia.
