Abstract
Title: “Innovative technique of mini-SLET”: case series
Purpose: To introduce a modified technique of mini-SLET in paediatric patients of LSCD Methods: Two children with unilateral partial LSCD underwent the innovative technique of mini-SLET, where harvested limbal tissues were placed over raw cornea and were covered with amniotic membrane. Both patients were followed till 06 months. Results: Both cases showed favourable outcome and uneventful recovery. At 09 months post op, visual acuity in left eye was 6/6 with -0.5 D cyl at 85° in case 1 and 6/12 with -0.75 D cyl at 115° in case 2. Results were comparable to the classical technique. Conclusion: This innovative modification of mini- SLET is safe, feasible and an effective alternative with favourable visual outcome especially in paediatric population. It can be a crunch point for LSCD management in developing countries with limited resources.
