Abstract

A 29 year old male presented with complaints of lower lid swelling in both eyes since 1 year .Anterior segment examination showed bilateral inferior conjunctival granuloma in inferior fornix and fundus examination revealed bilateral inferior retinal granuloma . Excision with biopsy of bilateral conjunctival tuberculoma was done. Biopsy report showed granulation tissue but was negative for culture for mycobacteria . A provisional diagnosis of tubercular granuloma was made and patient was started on anti-tubercular treatment after which the retinal granuloma showed signs of regression. Tuberculosis is common in developing countries presenting with varied forms of ophthalmic complications .An early diagnosis of these cases by a thorough ophthalmic examination is thus important and is emphasised in this case as it can help in effective management of patients.
