Abstract

A 25year old male presented with sudden onset pain, loss of vision and bleeding from the left eye (LE). He was febrile. Had no history of ocular trauma, surgery or previous ocular pathology. Ophthalmological evaluation revealed visual acuity of No perception of light and expulsion of intraocular contents to outside. He was tested dengue NS1 antigen positive 7days back with decreasing trend of platelet count. On day 6 of fever he experienced sudden intolerable retro orbital pain and positive central scotoma in the LE. After 3 to 4 hours he started bleeding from the LE and loss of vision with relieve of pain. Diagnosed as spontaneous evisceration of LE due to dengue hemorrhagic fever. Management was started with physician consultation. Evisceration of LE with PMMA orbital implant under LA was performed and prosthetic eye was implanted later. Follow up for last 6month having acceptable cosmesis. Spontaneous evisceration of eye in dengue fever has not reported yet in literature.
