Abstract
Purpose: To report an early and atypical case of Sympathetic ophthalmia after ocular trauma.
Methods: case report.
Results: A young male endured trauma to right eye following road traffic accident. Scleral tear repair was done. However, the right eye developed pre-phthsical changes over two months. During routine examination of left eye, then asymptomatic, showed sub centimetric unifocal choroidal granuloma. ICG and FFA demonstrated larger underlying areas of choroiditis, signifying an early manifestation of sympathetic ophthalmia. The lesions and choroidal changes resolved over one month on oral steroids with immunosuppression. The patient has normal vision in left eye with nil recurrences over the follow up period of one year until now.
Conclusion: Unifocal sub centimetric choroidal granuloma in an asymptomatic eye can be an early manifestation of sympathetic ophthalmia in sympathizing eye.
