Abstract
To evaluate the technique of lower lid advancement to overcome the complication of palpebral fissure widening following a large Inferior Rectus Recession. Retrospective analysis of records of patients who have undergone lower lid advancement along with inferior rectus recessions(IR Rc) above 5mm. 3 patients were identified. One had CFEOM and underwent 6.5mmIRRc. Other two underwent 5.5 mm IRRc, one for superior oblique palsy and other for MED.The palpebral fissure height(PFH) was measured before and after surgery and compared. All the three patients had minimal changes in PFH post surgery. Conclusion: Lower lid advancement in cases of large inferior rectus recessions helps in controlling the palpebral fissure changes.
