Abstract
PURPOSE: Imaging and clinical characteristics of pts with coexisting keratoconus(KC) and pellucid marginal degeneration(PMD).METHOD:Retrospective case series of pts with corneal topography finding suggestive of keratoconus and ASOCT showing additional inferior band of thinning with 2mm clear zone from limbus were diagnosed to have co existing KC with PMD.11 eyes of 8 patients were enrolled.RESULT:Average age – 38yrs.Topographic pattern of PMD was absent in 72% but all had Inferior band of thinning on ASOCT.Pachymetry map utilisation was limited and not included in diagnosis.Treament incld Corneal collagen crosslinking(C3R) (3),penetrating keratoplasty + intraocular lens implantation(1),deep lamellar keratoplasty(1),inferior patch graft with corneal collagen crosslinking (1)and observation for average 1.7 years.CONCLUSION:It is important to recognise a co existing PMD in KC as they progress inspite of treatment.
