Abstract

To study the changes in visual parameters in patients undergoing Anti-Tubercular Treatment. All the microbiologically confirmed or clinically diagnosed active pulmonary and extra-pulmonary TB patients of 18 to 60 years age group were included in the study. Detailed ophthalmologic evaluation including visual acuity using Snellen’s Chart, color vision with Ishihara’s Chart and field analysis were done. Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) was done and values were recorded before the initiation and during the course of Anti-Tubercular Treatment (between 3 to 6 months) along with fundus evaluation. Retinal Nerve Fibre Layer (RNFL) thickness was measured in all 4 quadrants. RNFL thinning was noted following the introduction of ATT in majority of subjects. Reduction in Visual acuity ,color vision abnormalities and field defects were also noted, in relatively less numbers. Early detection, follow up and management is imperative to avoid permanent visual damage in patients undergoing ATT.
