Abstract
Purpose:
To correlate visual field defects on automated perimetry with computerised tomography findings in localisation of supratentorial tumours
Materials/Methods:
172 patients with supratentorial tumours underwent thorough ocular examination and CT scan. Automated perimetry could be done in 127 patients. Sensitivity of automated perimetry in comparison to CT scan in localising site of lesion was ascertained
Results:
Most common supratentorial lesion was sellar/suprasellar (59.3%), while most common field defects were homonymous and bitemporal hemianopia (12%). 86 patients overall (68%), and 72% of patients with chiasmal lesions showed typical visual field defects corresponding to site of the lesion, which correlated well with CT scan findings
Conclusion:
Automated perimetry helps in early detection of supratentorial tumours and can aid in localisation of the site of lesion.
