Abstract

Mucormycosis is a relatively a rare debilitating invasive fungal disease affecting only severely immunocompromised patients. This disease has now become a notifiable health disease after covid pandemic. In rhino-orbital cerebral mucormycosis, sinus and nasopharynx are affected first which then rapidly spread to orbit and brain if not treated aggressively at the earliest. Here I’m presenting an interesting case of orbital apex syndrome with no vision potential secondary to invasive mucormycosis and how it was effectively managed with timely endoscopic debridement and orbital exenteration. This patient had good postoperative outcome in terms of survival and prevention of intracranial spread.
