Abstract
Aim: To analyze the incidence of lid changes occurring in patients using the custom-fit prosthesis.
Method: 50 patients wearing customized ocular prosthesis were analyzed for lid changes. They were analyzed on the basis of age, sex, period of wearing the ocular prosthesis, presence or absence of implant, and lid change like ptosis, entropion, ectropion, and retraction. They were investigated by comparing their photographs while visiting the hospital.
Result: The most common manifestation noted in these patients was upper lid ptosis followed by other changes like entropion, ectropion, and lid retraction.
Conclusion: The lid changes occur as the duration of prosthesis use increases and are more common in patients without implants. The main lid changes observed were upper lid ptosis. The other lid changes were entropion, ectropion, and lid retraction. So it is important to take appropriate steps at the appropriate time to improve cosmesis and boost self-esteem to face the world.
